Junior Clinical Fellow in Neonatal Medicine - Wales

Are you ready for a new opportunity? ID Medical is currently recruiting for a junior clinical fellow for a permanent role in neonatal medicine, working full-time. This job will require autonomous working as well as supervision.

The ideal candidate will be able to gain experience to varied clinical situations. Working as a good member of the wider clinical team is an important aspect of this role, so a professional manner and strong communication skills are valuable. You should also demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable.

Duties of the post:

  • The post includes responsibility for admission of all acute cases and their management on the neonatal ward as well as the examination of new-borns on the postnatal ward. There are opportunities to sit in on clinics by visiting specialists in paediatric cardiology, neurology, urology and paediatric surgery.   There are regular teaching sessions and joint radiology meetings. These teaching sessions occur in bleep free protected teaching time. 

Clinical duties:

  • Clinical duties are shared between the eight first on call staff. These duties are rotated on a regular basis. This is a sub-regional neonatal intensive care unit.  It is effectively self - sufficient in that it looks after all its inborn premature babies.  The unit is well equipped.

Out-patients duties:

  • There is an opportunity to gain some out-patient experience in both baby clinics and joint specialist clinics.
  • There is responsibility for assisting with major emergencies coming to the casualty unit as well as to any child on the hospital Intensive care unit.
